The 6th and 7th Lake Improvement Association, Inc. strives to improve the quality of life, water, and the preservation of the woodlands and wildlife surrounding the lakes.  The Association is composed of residents (both seasonal and permanent), businesses and repeat vacationers on both lakes.

About the Lakes:

6th  and 7th Lakes, part of the Fulton Chain of Lakes in the Adirondacks, are locate approximately 10 miles from Old Forge, NY in the small town of Inlet, NY.  The lakes are separated from the larger chain by the 6th Lake Dam.  Canoeists and kayakers portage from 4th and 5th Lakes onto 6th Lake to continue their journey through the Fulton Chain and ultimate destinations of Racquet Lake, Tupper Lake, Long Lake and beyond.  The Adirondack Canoe Classic held in the fall, also known as the 90-miler, is a three-day canoe race from Old Forge to Saranac and traverses 6th and 7th Lake during the first day.

These two lakes are unique to the Adirondacks; half of 7th Lake is part of the Adirondack State Park while the other half belongs to pr8ivately owned residences and businesses.  Both lakes have businesses – rental camps, hotels, and restaurants.  The lakes are joined by a channel running under the 7th Lake Road Bridge.

Residents and vacationers alike enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing, sunbathing, wind surfing, and sailing on both lakes during the summer.  Of course, winter brings a variety of sports including snowmobiling, skiing, cross-country snowshoeing, dog sledding, and ice fishing.  Spring and fall are also beautiful times on the lakes with the fabulous colors of the leaves changing in the fall and new growth in the spring.
